KVM and Video-Only Extenders: New Extension Options Deliver Low Cost, Convenient Control
AURORA, OH: Network Technologies Inc announced several additions to its popular XTENDEX™ line of peripheral extension products. The extenders eliminate bulky hard-to-manage coax cables by using CAT5 cable, which is more compact and easy to install in a building.
The XTENDEX™ ST-C5KVM-600 KVM Extender extends a monitor, keyboard and mouse up to 600 feet away from a PC or NTI KVM switch with no loss of signal using CAT5 cable. The extender provides remote access to network servers, or may be used in situations where a control station is needed in an unsecure location or harsh environment, such as a loading dock, factory floor or construction site. Each KVM Extender consists of a local unit connected to a server or the outputs of an NTI switch and a remote unit connected to a monitor, keyboard and mouse or the inputs of an NTI switch. The extender supports two users-one local and one remote. The ST-C5KVM-600 is compatible with most PS/2 keyboards and mice, and is available with audio or RS232 options. The extender automatically adjusts the video quality to compensate for varying lengths of CAT5 cable. Priced at $375-$420, the KVM Extender is immediately available.
The XTENDEX™ ST-C5V-600 VGA Video Extender extends a VGA monitor up to 600 feet away from a computer with no loss of signal using CAT5 cable. Each video extender consists of a local unit connected to a computer or the output of an NTI switch and a remote unit connected to a monitor or the input of an NTI switch. The extender supports both a local and remote monitor, and is available with audio or RS232 options. Priced at $275-$395, the VGA Extender is immediately available.
The XTENDEX™ C5KVMX10-600-R Rackmount KVM Local Extender consists of ten ST-C5KVM-L-600 local units grouped together in a 1RU rack. It allows the connection of up to ten ST-C5KVM-R-600 remote units as far as 600 feet with CAT5 cable. The C5KVMX10-600-R supports up to twenty users-ten local and ten remote, and is available with audio or RS232 options. Priced at $2,075-$2,365, the Rackmount KVM Local Extender is immediately available.
